          There Is No Other
          By Christine Renée Monks, RScP
In CSL's Declaration of Principles, Ernest Holmes offers this tenet of Science of Mind: “We believe in God, the Living Spirit Almighty; one, indestructible, absolute and self-existent Cause. This One manifests Itself in and through all creation but is not absorbed by Its creation. The manifest universe is the body of God; it is the logical and necessary outcome of the infinite self-knowingness of God.”
This belief that God manifests in and throughout creation speaks against the concept of othering. There is no other. Many spiritual leaders teach this belief; however, people easily stray from its application. My ministry reminds people of this truth, that there is no other because we are all manifestations of the Divine, equal but not identical. God is against none of Its creations; It is for everything and everyone.
I am inspired and compelled by my sense of justice to speak out on social issues, not with the intent to alienate anyone, but to educate and inform. I will humanize those impacted by injustice to foster more inclusion and respect. To do anything less would be inauthentic and cowardly. I am neither inauthentic nor cowardly. …
The key to connection and understanding is finding the common humanity among us, focusing on each other as fellow humans, rather than seeking out what divides us. I speak my truth and will continue to do so.
