          The Power of One

In 1989 on a Canadian radio broadcast, one man sounded an alarm. Over the course of his next broadcasts, he shared evidence about the effect of humans on Earth’s environment. As Julie Mierau writes in the July 2021 issue of Guide for Spiritual Living: Science of Mind magazine, “In that one moment, one man — one amplified voice — became a beacon for environmental change across Canada. His name — David Suzuki — become synonymous with tackling some of the most pressing issues of our time, including climate solutions, a thriving natural environment and sustainable communities.”
Through the David Suzuki Foundation, he focuses on legislative challenges, offers hands-on guides and resources, and share projects and stories from those engaged in the work. The foundation partners with locals to create alternative, sustainable models of economic and community development.
“We are interconnected with nature and with each other,” Suzuki says. “What we do to the planet and its living creatures, we do to ourselves.”
The totality of this work demonstrates the power of one person who decided to issue a clarion call. |

          A Certain Quality of Consciousness

          By Rev. Dr. David Ault
I am delighted to be an adjunct professor for a master ’s program in public health. I facilitate a course on problem solving/critical thinking/team building with students from around the world. They are presented with a variety of real public policy issues and health crises, then tasked to create proposed solutions and implementations as their term project.
I present a list of current obstacles faced by my global nonprofit, Kaleidoscope Child Foundation, in our mission to bring sustainable quality education, fresh water, food and hygiene to slums and villages in some of the world ’s most vulnerable territories.
I am in constant awe when working with these students. They have a certain quality of consciousness, as pioneering mental scientist Thomas Troward used to say. They are enthusiasts and no possibility is ever left off the table. Each demonstrates a burning desire to elevate the world.
Someone commented at the start of the term that I “get them while they still have hope and before the world beats them down.” I understand — but such fatalistic outlooks need not prevail. Just as someone on a path of healing can break generational trauma, we, too, can find ways to break from false inevitability.
What if we talked and taught of a world forever holding us up? Watching these students reminds me of Troward ’s teaching of the Divine Ideal – becoming aware of Source then opening to Its boundlessness with conscious request. Accompanied by uninterrupted belief, the desired form appears. Solution is inevitable.

        The Technique of Visualization

          By Ernest Holmes
Let go of everything. Clear your thought of every impression. Do not will or wish anything. In the silence of your own thought, feel that you are surrounded by an Infinite Spirit, that there is an influx from this Spirit flowing through you.
Let the Mind of this Spirit be your Mind and say: Infinite Spirit within me, which is God, All-Knowing, All-Wise, All-Perfect One, there is no life apart from You, and You are that which I am. I am whole because You are whole; I am perfect because You are perfect; I know because You know; I Am because You are. My word is the law unto itself, through the one great law of perfect liberty and perfect action.
At this point, visualize your desire, draw a complete picture of it in your thought, and realize that it now is.
