Show Up as God

“We are Divine.”

Ogun Holder - Finding the God within. This bold statement from Rev. Ogun Holder is followed by his explanation: “We are Godlike. This is the core of who and what we are, and we are here to awaken to that truth. Once we wake up, rather than returning to our old ways of struggle, we can embrace our own divinity and live a life of resilience, authenticity, inner peace and true abundance.”

Holder, who is the senior minister of Unity on the River in Amesbury, Massachusetts, suggests that if we are not intrinsically inspired, then we have to find “the thing that dares us to be.” Further, he believes that everything that happens in our lives is an opportunity to show up as God.

“This human experience,” he says, “calls us into transformation. Our core belief must be self-actualized so our humanity lives from our Divinity. Every moment in our lives is an opportunity to practice that belief.”

Practices to Apply Science of Mind Principles

Continuing the series that started in the October 2019 magazine, in November’s issue Rev. Dr. Petra Weldes examines practices that most significantly help us apply and use Science of Mind principles. In short these are:

  • Spiritual Mind Treatment — the single most important Science of Mind practice.
  • Practicing the Presence — the practice of the principles of oneness, love and creation.
  • Direct Revelation — the practice of the principles of spiritual being, freedom and heaven.
  • Self-Awareness — the practice that illuminates our alignment with each of the principles.
  • Gratitude — both a principle and a practice, and also the practice of the principles of creation.
  • Compassion — the practice of the principles of oneness, spiritual beings, heaven and immortality.
  • Intentional Manifestation — the practice of the threefold nature: the creative process, spiritual laws and freedom.
  • Sacred Study — the practice of expanding our knowledge and understanding of the One Infinite Reality.

“The purpose of these practices,” Weldes says, “is to embody our spiritual principles. This embodiment is a natural and spontaneous response to life, which is in alignment with Science of Mind principles.

Celebrate Thanksgiving, with Gratitude

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.

Faith: The Proclamation

of the Eternal Principle

— by Ernest Holmes

Faith is the highest conclusion at which the human mind can arrive. It is the proclamation of the Eternal Principle itself, speaking in the temporary abyss of time: "I am that I am, beside which there is none other.”

Affirmation: My faith rises with expectancy to meet this new day in joy. I now release all doubts and fears that have crowded into my mind, and I become quiet so that the Divine miracle may take place in my life. I let every good I possess become multiplied as Divine Love acts upon my faith to bring into my experience everything necessary for my well-being.

I affirm that every good thing I do shall prosper, every person I meet shall be blessed, every situation I touch shall be helped. I surrender myself completely to this faith. I know my word will not return to me void.

And so my faith, the faith of the little child in me, rises with expectancy to meet this new day in joy and to accept the bounty of heaven. I place my human hand in the invisible hand of the all-sustaining Good, and I let the miracle of life and love take place.

— Excerpted from “A Holmes Reader on Change,” as quoted in the November 2019 issue of Science of Mind magazine.
