Four Agreements To Change Your life

In the best-selling book “The Four Agreements,” don Miguel Ruiz offers four principles to create the life you want. While they seem simple on the surface, keeping these four agreements will challenge you every day, as you begin to dramatically change your life.

As outlined on the website www.toltecspirit.com, The Four Agreements are:

1. Be impeccable with your Word. Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the Word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your Word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Dont take anything personally. Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Dont make assumptions. Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always do your best. Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy than when you are sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

Something Becomes

Rev. Dr. Michael GottRev. Dr. Michael Gott believes a beautiful paradox plays itself in our universe: God never changes and God always changes. “The unformed, perfect nature of Spirit is truly the same ‘yesterday, today and forever’ — timeless,” he says. “And yet this perfect Presence and Intelligence must reveal itself in the realm of space, time and form.

“Here is where the changes occur. Something becomes. Reveals. Evolves.”

Gott is well known to many through his music as well as his ministry. He released his first New Thought album, “Love Can Move the World,” in 2000. “When I inhabit a song,” he says, “when I’m performing it and find a timeless moment of connection to the song and to the audience, that’s the ultimate expression. As an artist, that moment doesn’t happen often but is the most satisfying moment when it does.”

On March 5, Unity of Houston leader Howard Caesar announced his intention to leave his pulpit ministry in September, naming Gott as his successor. In his announcement Caesar said, “Nothing is permanent. All beginnings have endings. Guidance, when it becomes clear, must be followed.”

Finding Your Path to New Thought

Water Fall throgh Rocks.

In March, Science of Mind staff asked our Facebook followers to share with us what drew them into New Thought and how the teachings evolved their lives. The tremendous response overwhelmed us, and we’re sharing a few of those stories with you here.

“I was at a low point in my life and had been there a while. I received an advertisement card for Science of Mind magazine. The text resonated with me. I placed an order and have devoured each issue since. It has saved me many times, taught me and given me peace.” — Linda Graves

“I came to New Thought in 1974 because IT MADE SENSE! There could not be a waste of souls. There could not be injustice. New Thought gave me a sense of responsibility: You are what you think, and a sense of duty: Heal thy neighbor with your thought.” — Carlota Lopez

“I began to explore the unitive teachings of New Thought in the late 1970s after several years of experience with divisive Bible belief; at the time it was a move to learn all that I could about other expressions of faith. … Because of New Thought, and other unitive teachings, I also have come to know better and to do better.” — Robert L. Rose

Living with Continual Change
Ernest Holmes

We are all living in a world of continual change, a world in which thought, thing and experience are all in a constant state of flux. It is the very nature of the universe that there should be continued change and variation. It is a living world, the creation of a living creative Intelligence, not a static world created by a God now dead or departed who has left it to decay. No. It is vital and alive. The Mind that created it is not apart from it but is always active in and through it.

But behind that which changes, behind that which causes the change, we have found that there is something stable and changeless. Something eternal upon which all of the external events depend for their very existence. Behind the endless process of change and the infinite variety of experience and expression, there is That which does not change.

We should never be afraid of change, never fearful of what will come. Instead, we should bring to bear on each new event the influence of the creative nature of our thought — an influence that is founded on an inward calm, a sense of certainty and peace, which will reflect itself in the changing scene of our everyday lives.

This is an excerpt from “A New Design for Living,” written by spiritual visionary Dr. Ernest Holmes and Willis H. Kinnear.
