To heck with it!

Youn woman with smog coming out of her ears.

No doubt you’ve had moments where no matter what you did to solve a dilemma, it wasn’t working out. Spiritual Leader Dr. Kenn Gordon says that’s the time to say to heck with it! When we do, God is able to do its work and almost immediately the problem works itself out. That is the gift of surrender, the theme of our April issue.

Are you ready to do less but accomplish more? Next time you have one of those “I just can’t figure this out” moments, say, “Oh, to heck with it” and surrender to Spirit’s infinite intelligence.

A Conversation with Ernest

Wouldn’t you have loved to listen in on the conversations between Dr. Ernest Holmes, founder of Religious Science, and Yogananda? Or between Holmes and Edgar Cayce? Our new column, “A Conversation with Ernest” invites our readers to write a brief essay about what a conversation with Ernest Holmes and any other being – whether past, present or future, would look and sound like.

In addition to conversations between Holmes and Yogananda and Cayce, we’ve enjoyed what talks might have been like between our founder and integral theorist Ken Wilber, as well as Bella, a dog with a lot of heart and wisdom. We welcome your essays (no more than 500 words) at edit@ScienceOfMind.com and write “Conversations” in the subject line. It’s our way of engaging you with Holmes and sharing your voice.

What is the Price of Happiness?

Raising every single employee’s salary to a minimum of $70,000 put Dan Price, the founder of Gravity Payments, in the news last week. Price came up with that amount after reading an article on happiness that showed that making that amount of money had a tremendous positive affect on people’s lives.

What do you think? Is there a money number you can put on happiness? In the article below, Dr. Ernest Holmes explains that we can only create in our lives what we believe is possible. Holmes even debunks the idea that we have to work for a living. Share your thoughts at edit@ScienceOfMind.com.

Surrender to Your Perfection
Ernest Holmes

You realize a woman who has never had a dollar in her life cannot demonstrate a million dollars. A person who never had anything like that cannot comprehend it. If a million dollars came to her it would not be recognized because she does not know the value or that there is any value. It would not be recognized after it was received. If a woman couldn’t think of a million dollars, she would never get it. I don’t mean see it, but think it.

It is impossible to demonstrate a million dollars. You cannot sit down and think that you have a million dollars. It is not through this process that you get it. We must clear out of consciousness every thought of lack and limitation. Clear out all cultural suggestions of limitation and the belief in poverty and lack and the belief that, “I have to work for a living.” These things hypnotize people and bind them. The whole thing is impersonal. We don’t work to earn a living. You must unhypnotize yourself. Don’t acknowledge bondage. We don’t have to work. It is asked: “If everyone would do that, who would do the work?” There will be such an evolution and such proof that there would be very little work to be done.

An active thought will always be active in body, but you can free yourself from the bondage of having to work for a living. This thought is absolutely desirable and commendable. Specifically, every day take the time to declare that the Spirit which is you, lives in you and your consciousness recognizes itself to be without limitation; it is perfect, complete, free, unbound.
