Inspiration for January
Ernest Holmes

Dr. Ernest Holmes

It is done unto me according to my belief.
I rejoice that this is so, because it makes me the master of my fate, the Lord of my own domain. Let us look upon every condition in our lives, and facing it squarely say, “It was done unto me according to my belief.” Only then shall we be ready to consciously use the creative power of our thought in a thoroughly constructive way.

The world is better because of me.
We need not go as missionaries to far-off lands in order to make the world better. Life is a unit. Subjectively, we are all one, and every time any one of us recognizes himself as a center of God-Intelligence, the world is that much better, and world peace that much nearer.

Excerpted from Science of Mind magazine January 1930, Daily Meditations for January 30 and 31, by Ernest Holmes. You can read this entire magazine by visiting the Science of Mind Library and Archives Foundation.

What Is a Complaint and How Does It Impact Your Life?

Are you a complainer? While most of us would probably answer no, research Will Bowentells us that the average person complains twenty to thirty times a day. Facts are neutral, but the way we communicate them is not. With whom do you share your complaints? What impact does that have on your health and well-being? Listen to this inspiring talk from Will Bowen and discover how complaining might be impacting your life.

Be sure not to miss Will Bowen’s article “We Can Create a Complaint-Free World!” in the January issue of Science of Mind.

What Is a Divided Life?

Parker J. PalmerParker J. Palmer recognizes that too often it feels uncomfortable to genuinely reveal one’s authentic self, so we adopt masks or roles that help protect our vulnerability. Eventually, leading such a divided life becomes limiting and even painful. In “Integrating Soul and Role” by Mark Gilbert, January Science of Mind, Palmer offers ideas to help us integrate our souls with our public and professional roles. Here Parker discusses the problem of living a divided life.
