Faith for Today
Ernest Holmes

Dr. Ernest Holmes

As we begin the new year, let us remember “The old order changeth, yielding place to the new.”  Something new is being born in the world. The whole old order is passing out of existence forever and something new is being born. Don’t you feel that we should expect this new order to be better than the old?

But, just what are our expectancies for the new world? Don’t you think, for one thing, that the world is going to learn how to live together?...Don’t you think, if we have the courage to look through the present confusion, that we shall catch a vision of some fairer form, some more noble form, emerging? Let us dare to believe that unkindness and intolerance will someday vanish from the face of the earth. Let us have faith to look into the new age with expectancy that all men will find a common approach to the One God.

Excerpted from “Faith for Today” by Ernest Holmes, originally published in Science of Mind magazine January 1950.

The New Thought Music Festival—for “Non-mega-churches” to Unite and Share the New Thought Message
Rev. Lee McNeil Nash

“Wake up!”
“I am awake!”

This call-and-response exchange occurs quite regularly during our Sunday services. I implore congregants to wake up to the loving presence of God in our daily lives, a fundamental tenet of our New Thought teachings. And they affirm it. With vigor!

Waking up has a broader application to our spiritual communities as well. When communities awaken to new possibilities, they are energized and revitalized. That’s been my experience as senior minister of the Riverside Community Center for Spiritual Living, located in Southern California east of Los Angeles.

In our case, music has provided the spark that set us on fire and keeps us aglow. We were blessed to have an already powerful music program when we launched an annual music festival—featuring such acclaimed New Thought recording artists as Karen Drucker, Faith Rivera, Daniel Nahmod, and Jami Lula—that continues to invigorate our decades-old community.

New Thought Music Festival Image.Al Yankee, a composer and professional musician who has contributed his talents to our Sunday services for over ten years, had a vision for a New Thought Music Festival that, ultimately, through much prayer and visioning, debuted in March 2011, and we have embraced ever since.

Science of Mind Sparks Creativity for the Talented Troy Horne

Troy Horne Banner

Troy Horne is excited about his new album Monsters Inside My Head. From artist to creator to producer, Troy has written, recorded, and produced music, film, and television. Horne has starred in the Broadway show RENT, the ION Network’s Firebrand TV, NBC’s The Sing Off, and he was featured on ESPN’s 2011 Monday Night Football musical opener alongside Hank Williams Junior. He has appeared on Star Search, on multiple records as a lead and background singer, and has toured the world with his band.

It has been over ten years since Horne has released an album, and his introduction to the Science of Mind philosophy has launched a plethora of positive creativity. Horne hopes that his music will be a blessing to those seeking a little inspiration or a New Thought pick-me-up. He sees Monsters Inside My Head as a musical celebration of our global community. Horne’s intention is to create positive music that is accessible and easily usable by Science of Mind communities. To make this possible, Horne plans to make all of his new music available on iTunes, with instrumental tracks and sheet music for all of his songs available to download from his website, and affordable licenses for centers and Science of Mind musicians who wish to use his CDs or DVDs.
