Shortcut to a Miracle: How to Change Your Consciousness and Transform Your Life
Shortcut to a Miracle:

How to Change Your Consciousness and
Transform Your Life
Michael C. Rann and Elizabeth Rann Arrott
Softcover, $14.95
Jeffers Press

A natural happening responding to universal laws,” is how a miracle is defined by the authors of this book. They believe that when we understand these laws, we can use them to achieve miracles. The idea is that universal laws always work and are based on the dual principles that consciousness manifests and that dominant thought prevails. As the authors state:

The more we are able to align our thinking with what we want, the more fully empowered we become, and the more transformed our lives become.

Their guidelines lead to an application of universal laws in a way that takes the reader, step-by-step, on a path to full manifestation of the desired good. It is suggested that we, “Begin with an open mind;” from there, they explain what is involved in creating the attitude that leads to miracles.

Another variable that is central to the process for manifesting miracles is letting go of old ideas; and, one of the key strengths of this book is the techniques it offers for doing this releasing. Part of the process entails realizing how much more is possible than may have been previously believed. They offer that the key to miracles is the open mind, the expanded mind, and the transformed beliefs.

Since much of the thrust of Science of Mind teachings is the expansion of beliefs—the expansion of understanding and perception—this book is valuable in making effective use of these teachings so authentic results are experienced. It persuasively shows that the more that the world of unbroken connectedness is understood and lived, the greater becomes the capacity to go from idea to form to—miracles!

Roads to Truth:
In Search of New Thought's Roots
Sherry Evans
Softcover, $19.95
Northern Lights Publications

Whether you’re a freshman of New Thought or a longtime veteran, just a glance at the index of this book makes it a fact-finding, must-have! Chapter one takes us on a short, historical road trip of America at the end of the nineteenth century; this helps to set the stage for understanding the political, social, and religious mood in which New Thought was born.

From there, author Sherry Evans leads us on a thorough journey of the founders and foundations of the three major New Thought groups: Divine Science, Religious Science, and Unity. Chapter two begins with a definition of New Thought:

To put it simply, New Thought is about right thinking, thinking that leads to positive results—to health, wealth, peace, and happiness. But while right thinking is the hallmark, there is much more to New Thought than that. New Thought is a lifestyle, a metaphysic, and a religion.

Evans is careful to state that there are other groups that teach New Thought philosophy, but that she limited her research to these three because “they are the pioneers of the philosophy on which all other New Thought groups depend.” Her research is extensive—we are literally taken to China and back; which gives us a better than basic understanding of Buddhism, Hinduism, and Taoism and how they influenced and parallel New Thought tenets.

There is also an entire chapter on how the teachings of Jesus are integral to the core concepts and beliefs of New Thought. This book is an excellent compendium on New Thought philosophy.
