With a staunch faith that literally jumps off the page Katheryn Alice affirms for us, “You can’t miss your soul mate!” This powerful proclamation is just one of many that fill this superb book, Love Will Find You. There is a gentle sweetness and humor to Alice’s no-nonsense attitude; assuring us “there is a lid for every pot.” She counsels that all we need is: “trust in timing, trust in the process and openness to inner guidance.” To attain that inner guidance the book lays out the “nine magnets” to draw in your perfect love; beginning with believing that your soul mate is out there, progressing to sending out your own unique soul call, doing the important work to “declutter” your heart and finally, taking the ride of your life in happy union. We are encouraged in every chapter to question and dispel all of the old wives’ tales that enforce notions like: love is a numbers game—kiss one hundred frogs and you’ll find your prince! According to Alice all you need is a “soul mate journal” and the willingness to do deep introspection and inner healing exercises designed to uncover your real self. There is a wonderful opposing mirror quality to the exercises that aids us in looking at our self from all angles. Alice also includes many inspiring stories that she has gleaned from her years of leading workshops and working with individuals to find their beloveds; some of the stories are of soul mates coming together in the most surprising and unlikely ways. Even if you have tried every internet dating site available without success, and believe that love is only for a fortunate few, reading Love Will Find You could make you a believer again in attracting romantic love. This book is based on the author’s own experience. An expert on overcoming the challenges of infertility and a physician, McQuaid recounts his and his wife Michelle’s triumph over infertility; their story is fraught with heartbreaking disappointment as one attempt after another of in vitro fertilization (IVF) fails. It was a five-year struggle with infertility, when they finally achieve the birth of a son, Luke, their “miracle baby.” Read simply for the personal story it tells, this book is touching and compelling. As a practical guidebook for people dealing with the challenge of infertility, it contains valuable technical information as well as sensitive emotional and spiritual support. McQuaid states that his aim is to “reshape your thinking,” to alter “how you see reality and what you feel is possible for yourself.” He accomplishes his aim effectively by giving specific ways to apply intention, imagination, meditation, visualization, gratitude, forgiveness and faith to the process. McQuaid also explores some of the more esoteric aspects of his and Michelle’s experience, such as how the freezing of embryos for IVF may provide evidence for the soul’s existence. The author concludes by affirming the couple’s intention to have a baby girl, even after the setback of a miscarriage, and it seems quite possible that yet another miracle will happen for them. That’s the special-ness of this book. As a manual for creating conception miracles, it has a powerful and expansive impact. Kathy Juline |
