Bound in black leather, with gold embossing, gilded edges and a satin page marker, this is the most elegant edition of The Science of Mind ever published. Written by Religious Science founder Ernest Holmes, it continues to be one of the most popular books available on New Thought. Commonly referred to as the “textbook” in the Religious Science community, it was first published in 1926. In 1938, it was completely revised and that edition has become the classic that is used worldwide as a teaching text and reference source for the Science of Mind philosophy. In addition to the Science of Mind tenets, Part Five offers guidance “From the Teachings of Jesus” and “Other Teachings from the New Testament,” while Part Six provides “Meditations for Self-Help,” and there is a bonus—the Concordance to the text is printed with this edition only. In a handsome gift box, this leather edition is a beautiful keepsake gift for everyone on your list this holiday. It is available now for a limited time only.
Stacy Sullivan’s third CD, Cold Enough to Snow, is a holiday album that will appeal to most musical tastes. Sullivan offers distinctive versions of the classics: “Away In a Manger,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Winter Wonderland.” The standouts of the eleven tracks are a stirring, blues-guitar rendering of “Silent Night” and an excellent cover of Joni Mitchell’s “River.” Sullivan won the 2002 Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs’ award for Outstanding Female New York Debut, and she has played cabaret rooms across the country. Good holiday music adds to the season and is an easy gift choice; I think most listeners will agree that Stacy Sullivan’s beautiful alto voice will be a pleasurable listen at anytime of year! From catastrophic, natural disasters to man-made atrocities, plenty has occurred in the global community since A Little Book of Forgiveness was first published in 1994. And, while there are many books on forgiveness, author D. Patrick Miller offers a large spectrum of forgiveness possibilities in this little book. He includes everything from forgiving a murderer to the more familiar—forgiving one’s self. Only ninety-one pages, you can read cover to cover in one sitting if you like. The beauty of its brevity is it gets straight to the point. The “Seven Steps for Forgiveness,” which fall after Miller’s introduction, are sensible and uncomplicated: Step three, “Imagine for a while what your life will be like without the sorrow or grievance that has been haunting you;” Step seven, “Repeat steps 1 through 6 as often as necessary, for life.” Reprinted in 2004, this edition is also available on CD. For the entrepreneurs on your holiday list, New Thought business leader Tricia Molloy’s Divine Wisdom at Work is an excellent gift. As a board member of the Unity North Atlanta church for seven years, Molloy’s business and spiritual principles helped it to become one of the largest Unity churches in the world. There is a chapter for each of Molloy’s ten principles. While the principles cover familiar ground—the law of attraction, affirming success, and a gratitude attitude, to name a few, Molloy does a notable job of instructing us on how to incorporate them into our business life. She says, for example, “Today you will hire a business partner….It’s your Higher Power or Higher Consciousness—the Divine Wisdom within you that you can access at any time for a wealth of information, ideas, support and guidance.” Molloy’s principles are practical and are supported by strategies, action steps, exercises, and sage quotes from renowned business and spiritual leaders. Divine Wisdom at Work is a good read for entrepreneurs or anyone who wants to bring spiritual balance into their work life.
You can’t go wrong with this classic collection of talks by Ernest Holmes. Live Again! is a series of CDs featuring the unique voice and message of Science of Mind founder Ernest Holmes. Digitally remastered from rare archival recordings of Ernest Holmes’s talks at the height of his speaking career in the 1950s, these CDs offer an opportunity to hear his inspiring words as originally spoken. “Listening to our beloved founder simply and clearly speak Science of Mind is like resting beside, and being refreshed by, the deep well of the Source itself. These CDs are invaluable tools for certificated classes and workshops, and they are especially meaningful to Science of Mind students who have not heard Holmes’s voice before. The richness of his teaching is augmented and supported by perfectly selected, inspiring songs performed by well-loved musicians in our movement. The complete experience of the CDs is one of upliftment and tremendous joy in our philosophy, faith and way of life!” Rev. Dr. Kathy Hearn, Community Spiritual Leader. Preserved for decades, these recordings have been digitally remastered to capture their original vibrancy and impact. The soothing timbre of Holmes’s voice, combined with his profound spiritual message, offer an unforgettable listening experience. —Yolanda Porter
